Welcome to the Sight and Sound game design challenge! I hope you'll participate. C'mon, it'll be fun!
THE RULES
- Choose an image, a sound, and a concept to inspire and inform your design. You need one of each - a sight, a sound, and a concept. No more, no less, no other combinations.
- Write a roleplaying game using, at most, 4 letter-sized or A4 pages and/or up to 5MB of audio/video files. A page is one side of a piece of paper, so two sheets of paper, double-sided, is the contest limit phrased differently. Unorthodox use of space is fine (minibooks, CD cases, etc). Don't submit more than that, and if you are submitting media, let me know in advance. Seriously.
- Given the tight constraints, teams are fine - but they'll have to decide who I'm sending the single prize to.
- By Sunday, 23 September at 0900 EST, send me a file (.txt, .doc. or .pdf) at jmstar the-at-symbol nc.rr.com. Clearly note which sight, sound, and concept you are incorporating. Don't send anything after 0900/9AM that Sunday. You can direct questions to the same address, or look me up on Story-Games.
CHATTER
- Start a thread somewhere about your game - there's no requirement to design in secrecy, and if people help you, that's totally acceptable.
THE JUDGING
- Entries will be judged by myself and a secret panel of experts, one of whom doesn't play RPGs.
- Games submitted will be judged on how carefully and creatively they incorporate their three chosen ingredients, the suitability and effectiveness of the design, and a catch-all category for style, fun, and general coolness.
SHARING
- If you want to share your game, consider sending it to 1km1kt, the rpgbakery, or some other place for people to check it out and offer feedback!
THE PRIZE
- The winner will get something neat and memorable from me, as well as bragging rights. Everyone who participates will get a kick in the pants and a head start on an interesting game of their own.
