Grey Ranks Video Demo

Posted by Jason on November 9th, 2007 — in Check this out dude, Grey Ranks

Steve and I cooked up a video demo for Grey Ranks. Part One and Part Two are available if you want to check them out - it’s a little goofy, but it’s an experiment. I’m interested to know if this is helpful as a pedagogical tool in understanding the game, and if it interests people in the game as a marketing tool. We’ll see on both counts. We shot it with a digital camera on a tripod, basically shot for shot, and then I edited it in the crappy “movie maker” app that ships with Windows. It was very much a rapid, simple production, and quite easy to do.

Another Grey Ranks Alternate Setting

Forget Lwów, 1918. Forget Berlin, 1945. It’s time to hack Grey Ranks to play in Tartu, Estonia, 1950. Who knew?

Dro’s Guide to Polish

Posted by Jason on August 25th, 2007 — in Check this out dude, Grey Ranks

Now, at last, you’ll know how to say “Żoliborz”! At Gen Con Matt Snyder and I grabbed a few minutes from Radek “Dro” Drozdalski, a Pole who offered a huge amount of help while I was designing Grey Ranks. We ended up with six minutes of Dro pronouncing some of the more prominent words, names, and phrases in the game for us, interspersed with profane commentary and taunts from Luke Crane. It’s pretty funny but not really safe for work…the .mp3 is here.

Anna Kreider’s Amazing Grey Ranks Art

Anna Kreider is currently playing a game of Grey Ranks, and I had the good fortune of seeing her character drawings at Gen Con. So good. I love the strong line - it reminds me of mid-century animation, like stills from a film that would be really hard to watch.
