28.3 pounds of Roachy goodness arrived in Greensboro one hour ago. It is so close I can feel it crawling into my sinus cavity.

Drowning and Falling Art II

Posted by Jason on March 8th, 2006 — in Check this out dude, Design

Here are the reference character sketches for Drowning and Falling.

Eric Poole did the Cleric.

Jason Turner did the Wizard.

John Hill did the Warrior.

Dalton Sharp did the Elf.

Remi Treuer did the Dwarfling.

The idea is a sort of “comics jam”, where Remi provides some art direction based on game play, and each of these guys is going to draw scenes that involve each other’s characters. So John will draw a scene where Dalton’s elf and Remi’s dwarfling are falling into a vat of acid or something, and they’ll all mix it up in their own styles, with some visual continuity. It will be really cool! These guys are all very talented.

The Roach is in the Mail

Katy at RPI tells us the Roach has shipped from RPI - now it has to cross a continent, and then it’ll be in our hands. I’m really looking forward to seeing our first print run and running my sweaty hands over all those shiny green bindings! Big thanks to Steve for all the work he did facilitating the printing process - we learned a lot, and he did all the leg-work.

Drowning and Falling Fiction

Bryan Hansel’s great game fiction (edited to make it fit the “warrior” art, which makes it even funnier) in which he lovingly channels the 13-year-old Korn fan who is re-writing D&D:

Fyren Cloudfloater stood at the edge of the precipice and stared down into the rushing water below.

Drowning and Falling Art

So the Drowning and Falling art is rolling in - we’ve got these guys doing a reference character class each, which will form a party, which everyone will riff off in their pieces. They all have different styles,so it’ll be fun to see it all come together. So far I’ve seen Cleric, Wizard, and Elf, and they are both excellent and funny. Jason Turner’s wizard is unspeakably fabulous - she’s an older lady, a little paunchy, wearing John Lennon glasses and a cape and looking very tough.
