I posted some data over at the Forge, in an effort to stay transparent and maybe help somebody else trying to do what we’re doing. The publication category at the Forge has been a huge help to me.
Wow, the response has been intense so far, and that is gratifying. We’ve had about an order every 90 minutes, and once we get some things worked out, we’ll be shipping a mess of copies to Europe wholesale. Our initial print run, happily, appears to have been way too conservative. We’ll be shipping a lot of games out Monday. If you still want an extra-fancy set, get on it.
Orders from France, Portugal, Sweden, the UK, Japan. International Roach love.
Things we’ve learned: We need to reduce unit costs for future production, and I know we can. Paypal - ouch! They sure get theirs. The hit we’re deliberately taking on international shipping is bigger than expected (but still worthwhile). Our wholesale price is a bit too low, but we can’t change it until we’ve honored our current commitments. Some other stuff I need to think about more. All told I feel really good about the game and our ability to share it.
It’s on! We got the books, they look good, the store is open. Go buy a copy today. The first 100 are “special edition” numbered copies including hand-cut cards.
Since the downloads page went live a few days ago, it’s been interesting to watch what people are grabbing. For instance, “wallpaper #2″ enjoys a 2 to 1 lead over either of the other wallpapers - a tribute to the depraved tastes of Roach fans, I guess. That is a totally boss picture of a dissected roach, so there you go. The Roach preview is our most popular download by a big margin.
