Fiasco Companion: Gangster London Writer’s Edition

Posted by Steve on May 27th, 2011 — in News

For those of you interested in another taste of The Fiasco Companion we present the Gangster London Writer’s Edition!

This supplement is a special edition of Graham Walmsley‘s Playset with an additional exploration of using Fiasco as a writer’s tool by author and game designer Will Hindmarch.

Using the Playset as a starting point, Will creates a very thorough worked example of a story, including a meaty and kick-ass script. This is worth reading for entertainment alone, but when coupled with his thoughts on re-purposing Fiasco’s Setup phase in the service of writing, it is a slice of fried gold.

For more of Will’s thoughts on Fiasco for Writers, see The Fiasco Companion when it’s released (in June!)

Fiasco Companion: Mission to Mercury Technical Data + Bonus Materials

Posted by Steve on May 25th, 2011 — in News

One of the best things about The Fiasco Companion is that we had so much good material, we didn’t have room for it all in one book. That’s good for you because now we’re releasing it for free!

Mission to Mercury Technical Data + Bonus Material is a supplement for the Mission to Mercury Playset included in the Companion, and it provides a metric ton of material to help you launch your next fiasco into orbit!

In this detail-packed PDF you’ll find pre-defined characters, technical information, some nice jargon, and lots of good inspiration. This document lays out, in the very broadest terms, who is going to be on Mercury, what equipment is around, what the habitat is like, and what the various missions are. All of this is intended to provide a gritty, highly constrained backdrop for your session. Get a taste now and grab the Companion when it’s released (in June!) to get the full Playset.

May Playset of the Month – Town and Gown

Posted by Steve on May 2nd, 2011 — in News

For the month of May, we bring you a commencement special Playset of the Month–Town and Gown:

Universities are strange places, and small town universities even more so. Faculty fight viciously with each other because the stakes are so low. Students grub for grades, or give up and drift through school. Townies hate the school, but it’s the only thing keeping the town alive, and many of them go to school part-time.

Given the pressure and the fault lines that run deep beneath, it’s no wonder that sometimes cracks appear.

This playset is the first from Stephen Granade, an alumni of Fiasco University!
